In 2000 Martin County Preservation Association took over this building formally known as the First Church of Christian Scientists. It was in extremely bad condition and ready for demolition. MCPA organized a group of highly talented and dedicated volunteers to raise a substantial amount of money. After 40,000 hours of volunteer labor and a great deal of hard work, the building and stained glass windows were restored to pristine condition. On September 16-18 2005, the building was officially dedicated to the citizens of Martin County and the City of Fairmont now known as the Red Rock Center for the Arts. Martin County Preservation Association raised another $42,000 to purchase an antique Steinway grand piano for the Red Rock Center for the Arts.
